What is the best way to care for my Womanswork gloves?
Leather gloves: The best way to clean our leather gloves is with mild soap and cool (or cold) water. I usually put my hands under a faucet with the gloves on and rub the palms with a bar of soap or a liquid soap designed for natural fibers.
If you want to clean the entire glove (not just the palms), you can submerge them in cool water with soap. Though they may lose some softness, they won't lose their flexibility. If they stiffen up a little, just wear them—the movement and your body temperature will loosen them right up.
After washing, let your gloves air dry slowly at room temperature. Do not put them in the sun, on a radiator, or use any heat source, as this can dry out and crack the leather.
Synthetic gloves: Machine wash in cool or cold water and air dry, or tumble dry on a cool/low setting.
Where are Womanswork products made?
Our line of leather gloves is made in a small factory in Arkansas, which employs about 50 people. The factory is an important economic driver in the community and has a small environmental footprint, as our products are handmade on sewing machines. Being a glove maker is considered a skilled job—each glove is made from 5 separate pieces (in some cases), sewn together (10 pieces per pair). More than a third of the employees have been with the company for more than 20 years.
We also make products in China. On my visit to the factory in Nantong (near Shanghai), I confirmed that the conditions are pleasant and comfortable for the workers there. The factory manager is a woman, and the atmosphere is congenial. In addition, the factory meets or exceeds all international norms for satisfactory working conditions.
Is my credit card information secure on your website?
Yes—your credit card information is fully secure when shopping on the Womanswork website.
We process payments through Shopify Payments, which provides top-tier protection:
- Our site uses TLS encryption (the current standard, often referred to as SSL) to secure all data transmitted between your browser and our server during checkout.
- When you enter your card details, they're encrypted and sent directly to Shopify's secure payment gateway—no full credit card information is ever stored on our side.
- Shopify uses tokenization: They replace your sensitive card details with a unique token (or ID#). We receive only this token for order authorization and later fund capture after shipping. The gateway handles the secure processing on their end and returns just an approval code—no card details come back to us.
How do I measure my hand to determine the best glove size to order?
